The Jefferson Physician Organization Lewis D. Yecies, MD Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2017, by the JPO to award $1,000 to a Jefferson County High School graduate pursuing pre-medicine studies. The goal of the JPO scholarship is to support our talented youth to pursue a career in medicine and encourage them to return home to build their medical careers.

Dr. Yecies (1944 – 2011) was a well-respected Jefferson County physician who advocated for access to quality health care and the practice of good medicine on the local, state and national levels. The driving force bringing the physician community together. He served as JPO Chairman; while also serving as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Samaritan Medical Center..
